Thank you for visiting my Web site where you can learn about me and about the services I provide. First, I must say that I have been deeply touched and humbled by people who strive to overcome their adversities, to seek a healthier and happier life. This truly inspires me.
The process of therapy begins with establishing a relationship of trust. My goal is to provide a safe place for you to explore your needs, emotions and issues. The decision to seek out counseling is a positive one, a step in the right direction. It is a decision to make a change in your life, get solutions and manage your life. I can assist you with those steps.
The focus of my therapy is to get to the core issues as quickly as possible, to enable us to find personalized solutions to your specific needs. Not all problems are easily defined but talking about them can bring insight, understanding, and relief.
In addition to my clinical practice, I enjoy public speaking and teaching. I have presented on many topics such as marriage and family issues, parenting, adolescent development and personal growth and development. I provide talks, seminars, and workshops to a wide variety of organizations such as Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS), PTAs, churches, and businesses.
I am licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Marriage and Family Therapist and as a Professional Counselor, and began my career in 1985. I have a Master’s degree in Counseling from George Mason University and am certified as a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist by the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in Lexington. I have a PhD from California Miramar University in San Diego in Counseling Psychology. I have done postdoctoral studies at the University of California Los Angeles in Attachment Theory, Child Development, and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.
It would be my pleasure to assist you on your path. Please refer to the ‘Contact’ page to set up an appointment.
